La città di Carrara sembra quasi unirsi alle Alpi Apuane retrostanti in un continuo di scorci e paesaggi naturali e antropizzati, in cui bianchi profili montani sembrano neve ma è invece il marmo estratto dalle cave, la pietra Bianca che ha fatto innamorare Michelangelo.
Una visita al centro storico per una passeggiata tra le vie marmoree, le botteghe artigiane, fino all’Accademia di Belle Arti e poi piazza Alberica dal meraviglioso selciato con intarsi di marmo. Nel mese di settembre da non perdere la rassegna “Studi aperti”, dove artisti e artigiani aprono il loro atelier al pubblico.
The city of Carrara almost seems to join the Apuan Alps behind it in a continuum of natural and man-made glimpses and landscapes, in which white mountain profiles appear white as snow but it is instead the marble extracted from the quarries, the White stone that made Michelangelo fall in love.
A visit to the historic centre for a walk through the marble streets, the artisan shops, up to the Academy of Fine Arts and then Piazza Alberica with its lovely pavement with marble inlays. Don’t miss out on the “Open Ateliers” exhibition in September, where artists and artisans open their ateliers to the public.
